Meetup Organizer

The San Miguel de La Palma Tech meetup group is a growing community of over 90 members dedicated to revitalizing the island’s tech scene in San Miguel de La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain, after the profound effect that the Volcano eruption had back in 2021.

The group focuses on connecting local professionals and organizations with the remote workers and digital nomads who visit La Palma. This initiative was originated by Agustín as an attempt to rebuild the “incipient energy” that existed before the pandemic and the volcanic eruption, aiming to create a stable network where diverse individuals can share their passions for technology and entrepreneurship.

By fostering these physical meetups, the group seeks to find professional synergies that can lead to long-term collaborations.

Activities organized under the La Palma Tech Tagoror banner, such as La Palma Tech <season><year> networking events, are designed to be inclusive and multilingual, primarily using English and Spanish. A central feature of these events is the “Introduce Yourself” segment, where every participant is encouraged to briefly share who they are and what they are passionate about with the audience. This is complemented by short talks that highlight local technological projects, the experiences of those working remotely from the island, and innovative technologies with potential for high local impact.

To ensure a balance between professional exchange and community building, every meetup wraps up with a social gathering at a local bar or restaurant, allowing for informal networking and deeper personal connections.
