Tagoross releases its first open content package on AI openness

Tagoross published its first open content package, one day after KDE turned thirty.

Two good days in a row

Yesterday was a great day for me. KDE turned thirty years old. The KDE documentary, published to celebrate the anniversary, was delightful.

Today is no less special for me.

The first Tagoross package

This morning, Tagoross released its first package as open content: AI Openness: Terminology and Definitions.

The guide explains 21 key terms of the AI openness debate, like open source AI, open weight and open data. The terms are grouped in five dimensions. You will find a full description of the guide on the release page.

It is the first package of a series of five for decision makers. The series will help them better understand the vendor lock-in risks of using AI models.

If you want to stay up to day about the publication of these resources and coming news from Tagoross, follow the Linkedin account.

Why start with terminology

It is hard to understand concepts like sovereignty or vendor lock-in risks without a basic notion of the terminology and definitions around AI openness.

There is already material out there for legal and compliance experts. My main driver at Tagoross is different. I want to move open source from a reactive risk management view towards a proactive one: open source as strategy. So my main focus is on managers and executives.

I hope they find the guide useful. I also believe other profiles will welcome this effort towards simplicity:

  • Techies, even AI developers who are not proficient in open source
  • Product people
  • Marketing experts
  • Business developers
